The women behind the brand

Clients recognize my passion for going well beyond a kitchen or bath design to create an environment steeped in architectural beauty and distinctiveness. Not so apparent is the unconventional path I took to become one of the region’s sought-after talents.

Starting in 1986, I worked as a product development buyer for a Chicago-based clothing company. In that role, I got to work closely with manufacturers to design and develop clothing for a high end women’s apparel company.

I worked my way up to become vice president of merchandising for that company, and was instrumental in creating a catalog that produced $50 million in revenue.

My time as a product developer also taught me to keep an eye on sales and profitability, which taught me two things: how to give the customer what they want; and how to run a successful business. All that came in handy when I decided to pivot from developing women’s apparel for a big corporation to designing kitchens and bathrooms for homeowners.

In addition to my love of making beautiful things that also support your lifestyle, I love collaborating with other people to bring a common vision to life.

As a kitchen and bath designer, I get the chance to know my clients and their lifestyle so I can design a space they love. I consider my work to be a success when the space is beautiful, comfortable, supports the client’s lifestyle, and looks like it belongs with the architecture of the home.

Kitchens and bathrooms are both deeply personal spaces. Not only are they a part of your home, but they are two of the most intimate parts of your home – the kitchen is the place where you prepare meals to nourish yourself and your family. That means your kitchen needs to be a reflection of you and your family. Most importantly, it needs to be a functional space you can work in. That means it needs to fit your lifestyle.

The bathroom is where you start our day and end your day, so it should feel like a sanctuary. It needs to be somewhere you can feel comfortable getting ready for the day and unwinding at the end of the day.

Design Philosophy

The Denise Hauser

Each designer has a specific focus when they approach a space. That focus is a reflection of what they stand for as a designer.

There are so many factors that go into good interior design. It’s not enough for the space to be pretty – it also has to be functional without sacrificing beauty.

Many designers have a signature design that comes through in all their work, but that’s not what I believe will best serve my clients. To me, each project is as unique and distinct as each of my clients. My strength has always been in reading the client. What makes them tick? What strikes a chord in them? What do they really envision for their space?

It’s your space. Not mine. My role is to visually and functionally realize what your secret dream room is in the back of your mind.

I believe in creating an architectural space that has a sense of beauty and character. I strive to create a holistic environment – not just a “kitchen” or “bath.” The best spaces have a sense of wellbeing and a level of sophistication. They have a bit of magic to them.

I love color and interior design, so the finer details that bring a sense of beauty are important to me. I tend to do fewer projects than many designers, but focus more intensely on each project so my clients know I am dedicated to them and their space.

Most of all, I am against mass production. I am dedicated to finding good ideas. I always ask myself what I can do to take the space to the next level. What would make it as special and unique as the client?

Making a space that is both beautiful and functional is what I do best. I love finding out what people need from their space, what they want from their space, and how to make all their dreams come true so they get a kitchen or a bathroom they love.
